Turkey’s Göbeklitepe was built tens of centuries before the invention of the wheel or the written word, preceding the pyramids of Egypt by 7100 years and Stonehenge by 6600 years. It shines as one of the greatest archeological findings in history.
When the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism set out to celebrate this mammoth discovery, CBA was tasked with creating a visual identity system to help share Göbeklitepe with the world.
The dominant temple plan and the T-shaped limestone pillar of Göbeklitepe were central to CBA’s design process, resulting in an earnest yet contemporary identity for Göbeklitepe. The full scope of the project involved includes a visual identity system, informative booklets and educational materials about the temple, communication materials for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as overall look and feel guidelines for Göbeklitepe’s first museum. The final designs were unveiled to global leaders in Davos in January of 2016.
